The article I read on TechCrunch this morning helped me make more sense of the Amazon Kindle, and what it offers. I have been so far a bit sceptical as to who would actually use it. I just can’t see myself reading a novel in that way…I much prefer a nice real book. However, Amazon are developing a larger version of the Kindle to release next year and the suggestion is that they will be targeting the student market (more to spend your student loan on!) There are currently publishers producing eBooks of textbooks but, as Michael Arrington states, “there is no compelling device to read them on. The current kindle is too small, and laptops run out of power too quickly.”

I remember at University finding it very annoying, and rather painful having to lug books from house to library, back to house and then back to parents’ house every holiday. It would have been so much easier to have them all on one small device (though less likely, of course, to provide such a good substitute for weight lifting).
